8th Grade Concert Band

The Eighth Grade Concert Band is the advanced band at the junior high school.  Admission is contingent on successful completion of the 7th Grade Band and permission of the instructor, although extremely talented seventh grade students may be moved to this class as needed.  Emphasis is on technique and tone development, and special emphasis is placed on ensemble listening and musicianship throughout the year.  The band plays music of a grade 2-3 level (out of 6), though more advanced selections are occasionally selected when ensemble ability merits.  The Eighth Grade Concert Band performs at the fall, winter, and spring band concerts, as well as the ISSMA District Festival in March.  In 2008, the Eighth and Seventh Grade Bands gave a combined clinic performance at the Indiana Music Educators Association State Convention.
